When you are remodelling your home there are lots of options to choose from. What kind of floor to have is just one of them. Should it be wood flooring, vinyl, carpet or something
else? You have to get the colour right and then coordinate everything else. Do you want curtains or blinds? What sort of sofa should you go for? and how should you have the lighting done? are all questions that need to be answered.

Then there is the floor. There are so many different choices for flooring these days it is
difficult to know what to go for. This article tries to give you an overview of what is on
offer to help you navigate your way through the minefield allowing you to end up in one
piece on the other side.

One of the first types of floor to consider is vinyl. This type of flooring is available in

One of the most important aspects of improving your home is the type of flooring that you choose to use. There are numerous designs and materials available in the market that you can choose for your flooring. Whether you want to choose the rustic stone cladding or you prefer the smooth finish of a ceramic or porcelain tile. Many people cannot differentiate between ceramic and porcelain tiles. If you are serious in choosing the best flooring for your home then you need to understand adequately the types of tiles and other things on getting your home beautiful floors.

There are two main categories of floor tiles; that is, the porcelain tiles and ceramic tiles. Then there are three subcategories of porcelain tiles, namely, natural porcelain, glazed porcelain, and polished porcelain. The natural porcelains are referred to as unglazed and unpolished. These dense tiles have a less absorption rate and therefore great in the resistant against frost. Furthermore, porcelain also comes in three finishes; mattered finish, unglazed and high polished. The glazed tiles can be either partially glazed or completely glazed. The degree of glaze is achieved by changing the process of manufacture. The average absorption rate of glazed tiles is 50 percent but there are some glazed tiles, whose absorption rate can lower to 10 percent. This is especially so if the top layer of the tile is manufactured out of clay. The great advantage of glazed tiles is that you can polish them further.

Polished porcelain are available in an almost granite finish and the tile surface is unglazed. This types of porcelain are in fact the natural ones that underwent a through a thorough surface polishing process. They go through an extra manufacturing process to make them more resistant. The process of manufacture creates pores on the surface of the tiles. Therefore, it is necessary that an appropriate sealer when laying the grout work and tile setting.
