When it comes to kitchen wares only three kinds of materials truly fascinates me and earns my respect, they are silverware, stainless and of course ceramics. In our kitchen alone, we have a set of ceramic plates, a teapot and a ceramic tea strainer. We are very fond of these items since the material makes it easy for them to be cleaned. As a matter of fact you can use a dishwasher to tidy things up for you, and microwaving any items made of ceramics is definitely a safe thing to do. Ceramics are well known for their toughness and their ability to stand hot temperatures. For this reason, crafters and manufacturers of this material have found a lot of uses for it. Not only do they look great and can serve as wonderful displays inside and outside the house, they in fact have blended well into our modern technology. Let me tell you a few things about ceramics, I’m sure that by the time you finish reading this article, you will be quite as amazed as I am with this material.

First, the obvious, ceramics are of coursed mainly used to beautify our houses. Whether you use them as ceramic house numbers to show the address of your home, or as ceramic garden stool and ceramic garden pixies, one thing will always be certain, ceramics adds elegance and class to any room, garden, or home. History will tell us, that this material was in fact only used by royal families in the past, and that they were a valuable trading item, just like gold or silver. Now, in this modern age, installing ceramic floor tiles has become very common, that all bathrooms have them. Yet it is notable that even though centuries have past, we still appreciate the durability that ceramics offer. If you wish to know how tough they can really be, try removing ceramic tile. This job alone will probably take you hours to finish. Another task that requires some skills and patience is drilling ceramic tile, common drills can easily slide if you push too hard when you have realized how tough the tile really is.

Although you may have been already aware of the uses of ceramics as displays and floor tiles, I am quite certain that you probably don’t know much about the next part, how ceramics have improved our technology. Ceramic ball bearings, ceramic brake pads, and the Piezo ceramic element are examples of these improvements. They are lighter but more durable than metal counter parts making them ideal for the use of machines.
